About the Maker
UNIT65 is a small batch ceramic studio located in Seattle, WA. Where everything is handmade by the owner, Kelsey Ayala. Unit65 specializes in small batch and one of a kind ceramics including the Nerikomi pottery technique. Everything is handbuilt rather than wheel thrown using various techniques. Clays are colored by hand before drying them out and marbling them into patterns. The studio embraces the wabi sabi mentality of beauty in imperfection to ensure that every piece is truly one of a kind. Ceramics are inspired by colors and patterns found in nature, vintage patterns, and rock and roll although inspiration can be found everywhere! What started as a hobby while living in New York and working as a wardrobe stylist quickly became not only an obsession but a business! Kelsey has since left New York and now resides in Seattle WA with her husband, dog, and daughter.
